Cyber hair

A revolutionary high spun nylon made to look, feel, wash, move, and reflect light just like human hair. One cannot tell the difference as the fibre is so real looking. This fibre is used on the First Women's Swim Wig and the First Women's Intimacy System as this hair does not drag in the water like human hair. This is a much more sophisticated synthetic which needs moisture and it is suggested it be sprayed daily with a Cyber hair formula called Protection Plus which will help keep the hair from drying out and getting frizzy like most synthetic fibres.

Hairpiece

Hairpieces differ from full head wigs as they are partial pieces or add-ons that can be used either to cover bare or thinning patches on the scalp, or can add volume to your existing hair. See here for our range of hairpieces.

Hand-Tied

Hand-tied wigs describe those where each individual hair strand tied by hand onto the wig cap/base using a single knot. These wigs offer the greatest styling flexibility and resemble the movement of natural hair but are usually more expensive than machine-made wigs.

Lace Front

Lace front wigs include a mesh insert at the front into which individual hairs are hand-tied. This creates a very realistic looking hairline and when properly fitted, is virtually indistinguishable from real hair. This allows for very natural styling with the hair worn away from your face. Take a look at the Raquel Welch Argentina Mono wig to see a beautiful lace-front wig.

Monofilament

Monofilament wigs are synthetic wigs where each individual hair fibre is hand tied into the wig base, which results in a more comfortable fit and also a very realistic appearance as the hair appears to spring naturally from the scalp. See our Wig Base Types page for more information about this and other wig construction methods.

Nape

The nape is the back of the neck at the base of the skull. When fitting your wig the bottom of the wig should fit closely into the nape to ensure a secure fit. See Measuring for a Wig to understand how to choose the wig size that is best for you.

Ready-To-Wear Wig

Ready-to-wear wigs refer to synthetic hair wigs which have been pre-styled. You won’t be able to cut or restyle this wig, and when you wash it, it will dry naturally in its pre-defined style. This is a great option if you just want to pull on your wig and go, knowing that you’ll always look your best.

Synthetic Fibre

There are three types of synthetic fibre used to manufacture wigs, which are polyester, acrylic, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). There are many advantage to synthetic wigs compared with human hair wigs. Take a look at our Wig Hair Types page to understand which is best for you.

Transparent Tape

This tape may be used to adhere the wig base to the scalp to provide extra security so that the wig will not shift. Few people are allergic. However, to be sure you will not have an adverse effect to the tape, take a small piece and place it on the top of your hand or arm for five (5) minutes. Make sure your skin is dry with no oils or moisturizer or the tape will not adhere correctly. If he area starts to itch, or burn, or when you remove the tape it is bright red, you are most likely allergic to the tape and should seek the advice of an experienced dermatologist for suggestions on another type of tape.

Wig Liner

A wig liner is a lightweight cap worn underneath the wig to help protect the scalp and to keep the wig firmly in place. The Julia Lampard Wig Liner® is a unique product, designed by Julia Lampard herself, which has many benefits over the more usual nylon wig liners on the market. See the Julia Lampard Wig Liner page to read all about this remarkable product, and buy it online here.
